Six sessions. Each one built around a specific case study and open discussion.
Each webinar runs for 90 minutes. The first hour focuses on the case study. The remaining time is open discussion. Sessions are held online via video call. Recordings are available after each session.
Topic: Impulse Purchasing
This session opens the series with a case study about a phone upgrade. The person already had a working phone. The new one had features they were not using six months later. We trace the decision from the moment it started forming to the moment it was made, looking at what was actually driving it.
Participants often recognize moments from their own lives without being prompted. That recognition is the starting point for discussion.
Topic: Emotional Spending
A case study following one person's Friday evening spending pattern over several months. The amounts were small individually. Together they formed a clear picture of how emotional state and purchasing behavior intersect.
This session is not about reducing spending. It is about understanding what spending is doing in those moments and whether it is actually doing what you hope.
Topic: Needs vs Wants in Context
A case study about a car. For one person, it was entirely optional. For the person in the case study, it was not. This session explores how the same object can sit in completely different categories depending on someone's actual circumstances, not their income level.
Discussion typically gets into how we decide what counts as a need for us, and how honest we are with ourselves in that process.
Topic: Spending Habits Over Time
A case study about recurring spending that gradually becomes invisible. The focus is on how habits form around spending, how they become automatic, and what it takes to actually notice them again.
This session tends to produce the most immediate practical reflection. Most participants leave with something specific they plan to look at differently.
Topic: Social Influence
A case study following a purchase made partly because of what a person saw in their social environment. Not advertising. Just the quiet accumulation of what other people around them seemed to own or do.
This session looks at social influence honestly. It does not frame it as something to resist. It frames it as something to notice, because noticing gives you more room to decide.
Topic: Decision Clarity
The closing session of the series. A case study about a person who started using a simple reflection habit before larger purchases. What changed. What did not. What surprised them.
This session is not prescriptive. It does not say "do this." It shows what happened for one person and opens the conversation about what participants have noticed across the series.
The series can be adapted for groups within organizations, workplaces, community centers, or educational settings. The case study format works well in group settings because it creates shared reference points without requiring personal disclosure.
Group sessions can be structured as a series or as a single focused session depending on what works for the context. Case study selection can be adjusted to match the interests or situation of the group.
